Beware of Dog, Pepper Spray and Stun Gun.
Anything can be used as a weapon in a pinch. This goes back to always being aware of your surroundings, paying attention to both people and objects in the immediate vicinity. We are not talking about being paranoid, but like I’ve said before, a little healthy and controlled paranoia keeps you out of the hospital or worse. A good illustration of this is a story I heard awhile back from a self defense product supplier. Basically this woman, we will call her
Julie, was preparing dinner for herself, her husband and some
visiting guests. The guests were due in from the airport and her
husband left to go pick them up, which would have given her just
enough While preparing the meal, including a paprika-crusted chicken main course, Julie realized she was out of paprika. Only a few minutes from the store, Julie quickly finished up some prep work, left the potatoes cooking in the oven and ran out the door for her 10 minute round trip to the grocery store. She made it to the store, grabbed her missing spice and hurried to the checkout. As she was leaving the store, she glanced at
her watch as she walked to he car and noticed she was making perfect
time. She drove home and pulled into her driveway in about 10
minutes. While pulling into the driveway, she noticed she The thought quickly crossed Julie’s mind that it was a good thing her husband wasn’t around, he hates it when she leaves the garage door open, even for a little while. Unbeknownst to her, the open garage door invited some creep to take a closer look at the garage’s contents. When the headlights entered the driveway, the creep ducked behind some boxes without Julie seeing him. As Julie entered the garage, the creep jumped out and charged towards her, knocking her into the wall. The impact caused her to drop her purse and grocery bag, but she was ok. Coincidentally, Julie did have a canister of pepper spray, but it was inconveniently stored at the bottom of her purse, now on the ground. Conveniently, the shelf next to her, which she was lucky not to slam into moments before, contained a wide variety of aerosol cans of spray paint, bug spray and other household cleaners. Julie quickly grabbed the first can she
could reach, which happened to be an uncapped can of foaming wasp
killer with a 20 foot reach. She didn’t need quite that distance as
the attacker was only a few feet away, but you would have With the assailant disabled, Julie quickly entered her house locked the door and called the police. Her husband and dinner guests arrived just as the police were driving away with the apprehended creep. Dinner was only a few minutes late. So why do you need to buy pepper spray or a stun gun if you can use anything as a weapon? Well, have you ever heard the expression “Always have the right tool for the job”? How many times have you used the handle of a screwdriver or the head of a wrench to put a small nail in the wall? For hanging a picture frame in a pinch, sure. But what about if you are building a shed or a deck? What about replacing the roof on the house? How fast would you fire the roofer tacking your shingles with roofing nails and a crescent wrench? If you get into the habit of always carrying your pepper spray or stun gun, you can count on it being available and ready to use when you need it, as long as it is not buried at the bottom of your purse or zipped in the inside pocket of your jacket. Don’t assume that some makeshift weapon will appear out of thin air when you need it, but in a pinch you need to use what is available to you, at that second. Yell for help, poke or rake their eyes with
your fingers or keys. Grab a handful of dirt, mud or rocks. Throw
your bag of groceries. Do whatever necessary to buy yourself the few
extra seconds necessary to get away or subdue your attacker. Visit
http://www.worthprotectionsecurity.com/weapons.htm now to take
control of the situation before it gets out of hand. Most of the
time, attackers don’t expect you to fight back, and when you do, you
significantly increase the It would be nice to believe that nothing will happen to you, but the reality of it is that an ounce of protection could be worth more than a pound of cure. What is Worth Protection to you? Your belongings? Your family? Your personal well-being?
